Join Peekskill Yacht Club for a guest presentation by Riverkeeper’s Dan Shapley, on achieving the Clean Water Act’s “fishable, swimmable, drinkable” goals for Peekskill’s water and the Hudson River.
Peekskill, a river city of 25,000 people, relies on Peekskill Hollow Brook as the source of its drinking water. Buchanan, Cortlandt, Somers and Yorktown also rely on the brook as a backup or supplemental drinking water supply. Over 100,000 people rely on this critical tributary to the Hudson River.
In the 50th anniversary year of the CWA, there is still more we need to do for the Hudson River and our drinking water sources. Learn more about the status of Peekskill’s drinking water source protection efforts, the water quality data Riverkeeper and Columbia University have gathered for years, and the state of signature fish species like striped bass, shad, and sturgeon.
