Riverkeeper will present information about its ongoing citizen science project to study the water quality in the Rondout Creek and Wallkill River at the next Hudson River Watershed Roundtable, titled “Water Quality Datasets and How to Use Them: Case Studies on the Rondout Creek and Wallkill River.” The event is hosted by the Hudson River Watershed Alliance and Hudson River Estuary Program.

Space is limited and registration is required.

The afternoon will begin with presentations from three speakers on: physical/chemical water quality data, pathogen indicators, and macroinvertebrate water quality data. Riverkeeper will present information about our ongoing study of water quality, as measured by the presence of bacteria associated with fecal contamination. Our study compares data to Environmental Protection Agency guidelines for safe swimming, and is relevant to people who use the Rondout Creek or Wallkill River recreationally.

The second half of the Roundtable will focus on updates on the Wallkill River and Rondout Creek, a wider discussion of the data and information presented, and watershed group updates.

Parking for a fee is available in SUNY New Paltz Parking Lot 28 off Rte. 32/South Manheim Blvd. The walk to the Student Union Building from this parking lot is 5-10 minutes.

This is a bring-your-own brown bag lunch event. All participants are welcome to bring a lunch with them or purchase food at the food court in the Student Union Building prior to the meeting.
