Thanks to decades of work to halt pollution and restore the Hudson, people want to get in and enjoy the river. Much of the Hudson is safe to swim in much of the time, but the river has only 4 public swimming areas along its 150-mile stretch (a huge contrast to the 224 beaches on Long Island Sound). Particularly as climate change makes the need to cool off more and more pressing, especially for disadvantaged communities, why aren’t there more places to swim in the Hudson?
From sewage discharges to infrastructure failures to funding, join Riverkeeper experts Director of Advocacy, Policy and Planning Dan Shapley and Science Director Shannon Roback in our new webinar as they delve into the current situation and what can be done to make the whole river swimmable all the time for everyone.
