Entero Count

Enterococcus (“Entero”) is a fecal indicating bacterium that lives in the intestines of humans and other warm-blooded animals. It is the EPA preferred indicator for sewage contamination.

About this location:

This site is located at the floating kayak dock appended to Hudson River Park boathouse. Free public kayaking program here puts more than 1,000 paddlers a week on the water in season, and the site is an NYC Water Trail launch site. Site Coordinator: Marcos Dinnerstein. Site sponsor: John Jay College Department of Science. These samples are processed by John Jay College Environmental Science Lab (Sandra Swenson and Kate Good).
