Enterococcus (“Entero”) is a fecal indicating bacterium that lives in the intestines of humans and other warm-blooded animals. It is the EPA preferred indicator for sewage contamination.

About this location:

The historically significant Burden Dam at Burden Pond once routed water downstream from the Wynants Kill to the world’s largest water wheel at the Burden Iron Works. This urban portion of the Wynants Kill has challenging terrain with the rewards of several waterfalls and cascades, and good fishing.
